Uintah's Camping Trip

So it is towards the end of the summer and I am sad to say this was my first real camping trip for the year. I just spent the last weekend in one of my most favorite places ever; the Uintah Mountains. I was up on the North Slope and we stayed at Bridger Lake Guard Station in the Division of Wildlife Resources cabin. This is a nice little place to stay, it is very quiet and you don't have to share the area with a bunch of other campers like you would in a campground. We had the whole area to ourselves as we were up there on the weekend so all of the workers had gone home for the weekend (they work and stay on the mountain during the week) I enjoyed many outdoor activities ranging from Fishing, riding ATV's, fishing, sitting by the campfire, and some more fishing. It was so nice to get away and be in the fresh air in the outdoors nothing beats it!!

This trip was just a guys trip here is some of the crew

Left to Right- Jared, my dad (Brad), Cortney, Me Missing is Mike and his son Dan they went fly fishing rather then coming to the lake to fish with us.

This picture was taken after a day of fishing at Marsh Lake. It took us forever to figure out how to catch these fish.. they were picky on the color of power bait we used but they were sure delicious eating!! Also the scenery was just lovely!

On this same trip Jared and myself rode about 60 miles (30 each direction) to do a little fly fishing on the Henry's Fork. This was a fun trip because neither one of us had rode this trail before and we had no idea how far it was. We had a blast and saw some great scenery and views on this trail. We found the overlook of the Henry's Fork there is a picnic table out in the middle of no where but you sure have an awesome view.. here are a few pictures to show you how great it really is.

This is a look to the north/east over the Henry's Fork

This is is a look to the south back up towards the mountainous area of the Uintah's way off in the distance you can still see some snow on the mountains.. I thought that was pretty cool to see having it be August and all!

Me on the ATV climbing a hill

Jared on the ATV.. we stopped for a break

Cortney appears to be doing some type of dance.. while cooking a delicious dinner.

My dad trying to figure out why the water pump on the trailer wasn't working..

And me... going through the Henry's Fork River.. or Creek what ever you want to call it.

This was a very fun trip.. and I can't wait to get back up there to do some camping/fishing!

Where has the time gone!?

So.. where do I start?

It has been a long time since I have blogged anything. Life has been super crazy this last month and finding time to just sit down, relax and do some blogging just hasn't happened!!

So.. The month of June and July flew by soooooo FAST! In the month of June I started doing a few upgrades to my house to eventually put it up for sale. I started a little painting project because fresh paint helps catch the eye of potential buyers. So I began to paint one night, let me tell ya.. painting is so much fun! However moving and taping everything off was a major pain in the butt! So I began painting and didn't think it would take me very long, however with my work schedule it took me nearly 2 weeks to get everything painted and do all the touch up painting!!!! The place really looked fantastic with this color I had chosen. The color I chose was a Brown/Tanish color, it accented very well with everything in the house.

Shortly after I had everything painted I decided I would put my house on the market expecting it to take several months with the economy the way it is. So I had a friend list it for me, I took all the pictures for her to list it for me. She put it on the market at about 1 p.m. by 4:30 that same afternoon she told me I had people coming to look at the house at 7:30 that night so make sure I was home because she hadn't got a chance to put a lock box on the house.

So I was pretty excited I had my first person coming to look at the house and I was pretty nervous I didn't really know what to expect or what I should do. So I made sure everything was in showing order and waited for them to arrive. They showed up at 7:30 p.m. and were there maybe 20 minutes looking everything over, they had a few questions for me and the realtor said I will be in touch with you, my clients really like this place!! Well I just figured they all said that to make them sound as if they were interested. So they left and I went about my business and about an hour later got a call from my friend saying this couple had submitted an offer!! I was pretty excited to have an offer on my place, and also a little nervous. There offer wasn't exactly what I wanted and since it was the first offer I counter offered them and they accepted it! I was so shocked that I had just entered a contract to sell my house! The shock of getting the sell price and all that was very exciting however I didn't realize I wouldn't have a place to live now!!

So thats when I began looking for another place to live, my friend had bought a place in Harrisville and I thought that would be a perfect place to look. It was another town home but its so nice not to have to mow lawn and do all the outside maintenance. So I looked into the place and grew to love it, it has a some nicer things that my old place didn't have, and it also doesn't have some things my old place did. I love the area over here, its so much quieter and peaceful and no traffic!! The neighbors are really nice and just an over all great place!

As you can some what tell from above I haven't had much time to do any fun things this summer which really kind of sucks! But we still have a month left to get some cool things in. This week is the fair and I will be occupied with that, but the next weekend I will be going to the uintah's to do a little camping with my Dad and some friends I can't wait for that to happen! Also I have a 4 wheeling trip that I am looking forward to getting scheduled (if Brooke has found a weekend we can all get together!)

Anyways I can't think of anything else to blog at this point but life has started to slow down quite a bit and hopefully I will be able to blog more!!

Talk to you soon

Ride a long/ Hike a long

So today I had arranged to go ride with one of my buddies. He is a deputy for the Weber County Sheriffs Office currently assigned to the Liberty/Eden/Huntsville area. Well I meet him for some lunch at a pizza place, it is called Alpine Pizza. The pizza joint is located in Eden, if you ever get there you need to go to lunch or dinner the pizza is just fantastic! I had the Buffalo Chicken ranch pizza, it was freakin fantastic! So we are just enjoying our lunch and commenting to one another how much of a nice day it has been.

We get about half way through our meal and the radio goes off, it is dispatch calling his number on the radio. Well he gets a call of a suspicious circumstance that a horse was running down a hiking trail with no rider on it. So.. that is a little bit suspicious right? But we are thinking that it just took off and the owner didn't tie it up right. Well like 10 minutes later as we are on the way to the call, dispatch comes back across advising they have another call on the horse, however some Forest Service workers grooming the trail found a female that had been bucked off the horse. Well, this now creates a medical call and they tell us she is about a mile in, well neither one of us have any of our hiking gear, but we have to go in and help right? I was kind of excited because I do enjoy a good hike! I have never been on this trail before so I don't know what I am getting myself into or what the terrain is like. So as we get there, one of the medical crews is already on site and we see them starting up the trail, so we get out and start walking as well. Well the fire guys freakin flew into the woods and they were then gone out of our site, well my buddy has his bullet proof vest on, and all his duty gear. This is approx 30 lbs of extra weight; well we stop and he sheds the bullet proof vest, we will just pick it up on the way back down.. So we continue walking in, and we get at least a mile in.. well we have to make sure that we are heading the right direction (because that would suck if we weren't) anyways we keep walking.. come to find out, the patient is like 2 miles in on this trail.

So the medical guys start doing there medical treatment and I am just a spectator and holding the back board etc. Well they decide they need to hoist this lady out.. because they think she broke her pelvis and them to carry her out would be rough on them and her.. because its not a nice trail.. So it was my buddy's and my job to go search out a place to where we could either set the helicopter down or find a decent place to hoist the patient from since they were by some trees.

So they bring the patient out of the tall tree area to the spot we found, and now we wait for lifeflight to come.

Here we are waiting for the Helicopter so we can get this lady to the hospital!

This is LifeFlight coming in to look at the area to see how they were going to do this.

Here they area again.. going back by us. The area is full of scrub oak and on a hill side, its impossible to find a landing spot.

So Life Flight flies by us to go to Snowbasin to set down and configure the hoist so they can come back and lower there medical person in get the patient ready to be hoisted.

Down comes the paramedic to prepare the patient for transfer.

Patient is all bagged up and waiting for the helicopter to come in and pick them up.

There they are being hoisted up to the helicopter (this was very windy due to all the backwash from the helicopter)

And.... they are flying away.. (yes they carry the patient on the outside of the helicopter.. until they get to the place where they can land and secure the patient.)

This is my buddy giving the thumbs up sign, because we got the patient the help she needed and everyone was safe and sound. If you are wondering why he is holding his shirt, it's because he is the kind of guy who will take the shirt of his back for you! (he really took it off to shield the patients face from all the flying debris and dirt when the helicopter came in)

So.. I upheld the Boy Scout Slogan today.. "Do a good turn daily" and one could prob say I got some of the Boy Scout Law accomplished too. It was a rather lovely day since I got to spend my time outdoors.. and helping someone in time of need.

The patient is going to live, she is in a lot of pain and has a pelvic injury. She will have some recovery time.. but wasn't very happy about her horse when she was waiting for the helicopter, she had a bit of a sense of humor about it, she said she won't be riding that horse ever again!

The moral of this story is kids..... to only ride things that have HORSEPOWER! rather then HORSES.. since horses have a mind of there own they will do what they want... and sometimes that means not wanting you on there back!

These pictures were taken from my Blackberry phone.. so thats why they aren't the best!

The End.

Much needed weekend!

Hello all.. tonight was my last night of work for 4 days!! I am pretty excited seeing that I am attending a BBQ tonight.. and also this week of work has been pretty stressful! I have been stressing myself out over hopefully nothing.. but.. ya never know. I have also had quite a few weird calls this week. I don't know if you can even describe them as being weird or just very awkward!!

So tonight I took my 2nd self inflicted gun shot wound call this week. I don't know what the deal-io is with people not wanting to live! I think that is the most selfish thing one can ever do... but thats just me. I guess they were depressed with the weather or.. who knows!?!? I also get some time off from the trainee as they will be in some more class room style training this week.. so more free time to myself!!

Anyways I am excited to have some good plain ol fashion fun at this BBQ tonight! As it is much needed!
